TELUS She CAN Coach is a national coach recruitment, development, and training project designed to support women in addressing the challenges they face in soccer participation.
The core intention of TELUS She CAN Coach is to create pathways to recruit, develop, and train women coaches, beginning at the grassroots level. By providing financial support and access to necessary coach education programs, the program aims to help women coaches navigate the system successfully. (This is a free program.)
Key features include:
Financial support and access to Canada Soccer’s Grassroots Coach Education Program and Safe Sport Roster training.
Access to a national support network that enhances grassroots capacity, including exclusive content, virtual webinars with sports experts, and ongoing guidance.
Intended Outcomes:
Increase the number of women role models in coaching to inspire young girls to stay in the game.
Expand the pool of women coaches at the grassroots level, empowering them to pursue advanced coach education.

Newly Recruited Coaches: Coaches who have recently joined the club or are in the early stages of their coaching journey.
Aspiring Coaches: Individuals interested in starting their coaching education and career.
Women Coaches: Focus on actively recruiting more women into coaching roles to promote diversity and inclusion.
Flexible Learners: Coaches seeking a self-paced, flexible training program that allows them to balance learning with other commitments.
Coaches Willing to Complete Training: Candidates motivated to complete training modules and actively progress through the program.
Goal-Oriented Coaches: Coaches aiming to achieve “Trained” status to be eligible to coach in the 2026 outdoor season.
Support-Seeking Coaches: Individuals looking for educational resources, mentorship, and a strong network of local and national coaching support.
Commitment to Long-Term Growth: Coaches who are dedicated to developing their skills and contributing to the success of their club.
Eligibility: All coaches must be at least 16 years old to ensure they have the necessary leadership and communication skills for participation. If you are under 16, and still interested, don’t be discouraged! Email us, and we’ll see if there’s something we can do.

JANUARY 2026 – NW Telus She Can Coach Club Kickoff Event

MAY 2026 – Coach Huddle #2
JUNE 2026 – Practical Coach Experience Phase – Coaches actively coach in the club environment
JULY 2026 – Program concludes
Recruited coaches will:
Actively participate in program content and coach education training.
Gain access to all four Grassroots Coach Education Program online modules via SmarterU.
Engage in three virtual webinars, called “Coach Huddles.”
Be encouraged to complete their Safe Sport Roster modules to achieve Trained status.
Actively coach at their club, with capacity and role determined by the coach and Club.
Participate in program evaluations.
Pre- and post-participation surveys.

The TELUS She CAN Coach program focuses on women interested in beginning or advancing their coaching journeys. The program supports participants through Canada Soccer’s Grassroots Coach Education, breaking down barriers and providing tools for long-term success. By nurturing women coaches at the grassroots level, the initiative helps to create lasting change not only in soccer but in community leadership as well.
As a Quality Soccer Provider, NorWest Soccer applied to participate in the 2025-26 Telus She CAN Coach Program.
We are excited to share that Canada Soccer has chosen us to participate in 2025-26 as one of 70 clubs, only 20 in Ontario.
